The weather disrupted Punchestown Festival comes to a conclusion Saturday with the rescheduled Grade 1 Guinness Gold Cup now the feature race on the card. Our initial stats pick, Captain Chris,is now a non runner. Barry Geraghty has been giving us Punchestown festival tips and believes Andrew Lynch's mount Rubi Lite is the one to beat. That horse is likely to be best suited by the conditions but a return to his Hennessy winning form would see Ruby Mullin's mount Quel Esprit right in the mix.
The other Grade 1 event is the four year old hurdle. Dermot Weld's Hisaabaat finished second in the Triumph Hurdle and is top rated. Given the previous record on British raiders it is no surprise to see Alan King's Balder Succes also near the top of the market.
In the UK the NH season concludes with the Bet365 Gold Cup the main event. We will have a run through our highlights of the 2011-12 season and dish out some Fat Jockey wards over the next few days.
