Punchestown Festival Day 2

Update Wednesday 14:30: The two chases on todays card at Punchestown have been abandoned. Thursday's card is subject to an 8:00 am inspection. The current plan is to run the Punchestown Gold Cup on Saturday afternoon. This afternoon's racing goes ahead with a five race bumpers and hurdles card.
The second day of the Punchestown Festival features three Grade 1 races with the features being the Guinness Gold Cup. Ten have been declared at the overnight stage. Captain Chris and Quantitativeeasing head the English challenge with Quel Espirit, Rubi Light and last years winner Follow The Plan looking to be the leading Irish hopes.

The Irish Daily Mirror Hurdle also has Grade 1 status and has attracted 12 entries:
Cheltenham Bumper winner Champagne Fever and the runner up New Years Eve feature among 12 entries for the Champion Bumper.
There is also a valuable Handicap Chase over 2 miles 4 furlongs on the card. Tranquil Sea tops the weights:
