Aintree Festival Liverpool Day
Wed, Apr 11th, 2012

The Aintree Festival kicks off tomorrow. Day One of the Grand National Meeting has been branded Liverpool Day and it really does promise to deliver some top notch Horse Racing action.

The Grade One Liverpool Hurdle sponsored this year by BGC Partners kicks off the meeting at 2:00. It looks all set up for the magnificent Big Bucks to write another piece of history and to surpass the successive wins record of Sir Ken.

The second race on the card is Matalan Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle. It is another Grade One race and is effectively Aintree's version of the Triumph Hurdle. Grumeti is expected to start favourite but they are also fans of Paul Nicholl's two runners on our Matalan Anniversary 4-Y-O Juvenile Hurdle thread .

The feature race on Liverpool Day is the Betfred Bowl Chase and it the Juvenile Hurdle is Aintree's version of the Triumph then this is their Gold Cup. There is a sense that there is something of a changing of the guard in the three mile chase division. This race is obviously significant in its own right but should tell us much about the future prospects of Cheltenham winners Riverside Theatre and Hunt Ball. We have added  Betfred Bowl Stats and given our stats pick for the race in our Aintree Festival section.

Thursday is the day that the amateurs get their chance over the Grand National fences and the John Smiths Fox Hunters Chase over  2m 5f 110y is the fourth race on the card. We have a John Smiths Fox Hunters Chase thread in our Grand National Meeting forum. BetVictor are giving online customers who have a bet in this race a free bet in the following days Topham Chase.

The Grade One Betfred Manifesto Novices Chase  over 2m 4f ( and full of horses ducking a meeting with Sprinter Sacre on Saturday) is sandwiched between a handicap chase and hurdle on the rest of the card.

If you are looking for free bets for this meeting have a look at our Grand National Free Bets thread.
