  • Albert Bartlett Novice Hurdle 2018

I realise i could be barking up the wrong tree here , But I have a feeling that Samcro may end up in this race.
Trained by Gordon Elliott , Samcro will be of interest wherever he goes , Unbeaten in 3 starts
    currently 16-1 .

I have a feeling Elliott will start trying to bypass the Albert Bartlett with his best horses going forward. Both No More Heroes and Death Duty were turned over in the race in the last few years for him.

The standard of his novice hurdlers is much higher over the last 2-3 years (and will in all likelihood keep improving for the time being) so I'd imagine he'll be concentrating far more on the Supreme and Neptune going forward so I think both Samcro and Blow by Blow will be split between those 2 races.

I think Samcro is going to be special. Think I may have already said this somewhere else on this forum, but his bumper win was the most impressive I've seen since Faugheen's.

Like Jono says, I think that GE will avoid the AB with his best novices from now on. I see Samcro as a Neptune horse but I don't think he is short of pace. It'll be interesting to see how he takes to hurdles.

Samcro for AB for me also lads , looks little bit special this fella ,however Blow By Blow the blot on the ante post front. When he was at Mullins yard Willie thought this boy was ultra smart. Concerns me slightly he missed last season , probably to help him develop into his huge frame.
Neptune for me for BBB , i just keep remembering Willie commenting about his speed , its kind of stuck.
Of the others Roaring Bull impressed me on his punchestown win , could be anything.

Personally I think this is the least likely of the 3 races for Samcro, he has so much speed, and agree that Elliott might be looking to skip this race with his best. But I do agree that he looks special and he is the novice im most excited about. BF sportsbook are 14/1 on him to win any race.

Thats a great price ,not much bigger to win set race such as AB or NH. What is true , our Gord dont put punters away with bullshit .If he says its AB bound mid season , rest assured he will be.Willie please take note , its not good for our health or our cheltenham pockets.

I could easily see Samcro ending up in the Supreme, more so than the Albert Bartlett.

I've already got more on him than I should but gonna keep taking the big odds for any race while it's available.

If he translates his bumper form he won't be double figures for any amt if the three so the 14s makes sense. I'm 2 pts each way with WH at 12s any race so I might have another couple

Not sure if it will end up going for this race but a horse that interests me and I am following is Coquin Mans 16s for the AB on bet365. Ran very well previously and could well end up having a big future.

Also to note it is running tomorrow at Listowel it is currently 1/5 so not much betting value, just best watched. Maybe find out more tomorrow

Having re-watched and re-reas the comments here I'd firmly agree with Faugheen jono and Billy that Samcro won't end up in this race. At 14s and race and 16s for this you'd be insane to take the latter.

This rave is hard to have a strong fancy for before the season starts as you don't know what will get the trip. The fav (DD) hadn't last season and no one had that as any ante post to tip this year.

Anything from the bumper an obvious stayer? Debuchet?

Wasnt Ballyward from Mullins yard tipped for top honours last year , could he possible be a slightly dark un to watch out for. Graham Wylie loves his 3 miler hurdlers.

Next Destination? Ran well in the bumpers at Cheltenham and Puncestown

I've requested Poli Roi for this race with 365 and been offered 25/1.

Well put in his place by Fayonagh but looks more of a staying type so unlikely to meet again?

I like Ballyward and was my main bumper horse before being taken out! Hopefully comes back well and jumps a hurdle. Massive potential though.
