who do we like ?

Haven't looked at this years renewal in any depth yet OV but I remember doing a ton of work on the race last year and came up with Rogue Angel, only for him to tip up at the first !
He then went out and won a handicap at Galway and followed up winning the Kerry National yet is rated just 7lb higher so I;d have to give that one a chance.
If the rain falls I'd be interested in Russe Blanc too.
Will get my head into this over the weekend

My initial thoughts were Bonny Kate but I'll be spending a couple of hours on this nearer the time.

the weights must go up by at least 7 lbs ?

Massive improver and novices have a decent record in this...

New poster but have been following - have an inkling for Captain Von Trappe but will wait for Jockey bookings as Elliot has 10 still in

Welcome on board Montelado.

Wont be jocked up until Sunday I presume ?

It seems Foxrock wont be running so the weights will go up a stone, ive gone for Another Hero for Jonjo, so everybody else on here can cross that one off their list ha!!

It is a very tricky card as the prices suggest. I must congratulate you on all the work ye do especially for Cheltenham.
There are probably at least ten you could make a case but my knowledge would not be great. I like c.v.t but only if ground does not get too soft over here but I have no inside track. I like to have a bet and try hard to restrict betting to big festivals and Saturday meets

The race has a history of throwing up big price winners but it is a fairly strong trends race so don't be put off if after applying all criteria you come up with a 33/1 shot.....

have to respect the raiders.

Anyone know if Kerry Lee's horse is an intended runner

Welcome Montelado.

95% of my betting is done at the festival's or in the big races on a Saturday too. I find it easier to select a couple of races a week and focus on those.

Found some updates

TRAINER Gordon Elliott will be keeping a close eye on the weather before deciding if he runs Mala Beach, 10-1 co-second favourite with the sponsors, in the BoyleSports Irish Grand National at Fairyhouse on Monday. The eight-year-old, who was in front and travelling well when he fell two out in the Bobbyjo Chase at Fairyhouse on his most recent start last month, will work this morning.

He said yesterday: “Mala Beach is an intended runner although I hope the rain that is forecast arrives. He needs it. He’ll do a bit in the morning and then we’ll see what happens with the weather.”

The ground at Fairyhouse dried to ‘good to yielding’ yesterday but rain was forecast for last night and again for Saturday. Speaking yesterday afternoon, racecourse manager Peter Roe said: “We’re expecting about 5mm overnight and Saturday is expected to be wet. After that we could get showers.”

Elliott added: “Bless The Wings, who finished third in the cross-country at Cheltenham last week, will run, as will Captain Von Trappe, while Unic De Bersy and Nickname Exit will probably run. “However, Killer Crow is doubtful and I’m not sure about Cause Of Causes or Lord Scoundrel. We also have Definite Ruby and Riverside City and if they make the cut they’ll probably run.”

Cause Of Causes would have to carry a 12lb penalty for his 12-length win in the Kim Muir Chase at Cheltenham a week ago and Frank Berry, racing manager to the eight-year-old’s owner JP McManus, said yesterday: “We probably won’t decide until Friday morning whether to run him or wait and hope he gets into the Crabbie’s Grand National.”

Berry confirmed the Jonjo O’Neill-trained Another Hero, winner of both his starts over fences, will be in the line-up. “He lacks a bit of experience but Jonjo is happy with him and the plan is to run,” said Berry. O’Neill has trained two of McManus’s four winners of the event – Butler’s Cabin (2007) and Shutthefrontdoor (2014).

Ted Walsh, trainer of Foxrock, the highest-weighted acceptor, said yesterday: “It’s most unlikely he’ll run as he’s going to end up with 11st 12lb on his back. We’ll make a final decision on Friday morning.”

Kerry Lee, trainer of Russe Blanc, winner of the Betfred Classic Chase at Warwick in January, is one of those hoping the rain arrives. She said yesterday: “We’ve left Russe Blanc in and the plan is to run him. “He’s ground dependent – he’s better when it’s soft – but I’ve been in contact with Peter Roe at Fairyhouse and there is a lot of rain forecast.

Have had a small ew bet on Russe Blanc.Kerry Lee places her horses well.

Also covered Wrath of Titans. Nice weight and the Hughes have a good record in this race,

Definitely.
Only concern is that I was told once that Fairyhouse is the toughest jumping track anywhere (UK and Ireland), the horse has an F and a pair of URs against his name.
I don't think he's a poor jumper but he clearly makes the odd mistake and Fairyhouse it seems will find out any horse that doesn't get them all right.
That said if it rains I'm still backing him !

Wrath of Titans was the other outsider that caught my eye MG so will probably do both on Monday & maybe Bonny Kate if I go for a lower priced horse

Nicked some 40s e/w Rogue Angel this morning....

29 declared.
Small e/w Killer Crow 16s, good words flying around for this at Cheltenham but I don't think he qualified for his intended target (2m 4f nov h'cap), has jumped round Fairyhouse before and looks to have the profile of a stayer

I've played 4 in this:

Rogue Angel e/w 40s
Killer Crow e/w 16s
Captain Von Trappe 50s e/w
Wrath of Titans 25s e/w

Not by design but they're all Gigginstown horses.

Good luck whoever you back !

Just the 2 for me...

Bless The Wings 16/1
Bonny Kate 8/1
