Cheltenham 2017 Antepost Bets

Not sure he'd be far behind Kev. Rated 157 over hurdles, there won't be many rated higher that are going chasing this winter. He won his last 3 races at Cheltenham so absolutely loves the place.

The form of his international hurdle win in December is probably questionable as most of those in behind disappointed as the season progressed but he's 33/1 so going to be a few question marks at least.

I've had a decent bet as I can find as many holes in those at the head of the betting at this stage.

In case anyone missed it this is from Nicholls yard yesterday he couldn't hide his enthusiasm about old guard, Paul quoted saying" everything went wrong from after the international, I admit i ran him too soon at kempton and then suffered a pelvic injury, but looking at him now he looks magnificent and in fantastic order, can't wait to see him jump a fence even though he's flat bred he's tough enough to go chasing and I see him in the same mould as dodging bullets, plans are fluid and he may take in 1 more hurdle run before chasing"

Interesting having looked in to the ratings now I am home and it looks like taking away Douvan, Old Guard would have been top rated this year. Not as much to find as I thought and from my original post about it, if he did "take to fences" and improve on his hurdle rating by 5 lbs you're looking at a very good horse unless there is a special one in against it. Higher rated than Min is for example.... and Altior and Yorkhill (although I think I might be using the ratings prior to the festival)? Someone can correct me... Certainly made me re-think though!

Kevloaf

Old Guard 157
Altior 160
Min 154
Yorkhill 154

33s on Old Guard wont last imo.

Nope, I've gone full circle, looks a cracking price. Well spotted and well thought out.

Briar Hill entered at Listowel Sunday - over 2 miles and hurdles

Doesnt seem to be quoted for any Cheltenham markets but got off the mark over fences at Killarney last time 2m 4f.

Positives words from Harry Skelton about two novice hurdlers this season, Betameche, saying he's all speed and really is under the bracket of could be anything and expects him to rank right up there, currently 33/1 for supreme novice, also Robin Roe he believes will be very good this year and physically looks well, there was also a mention for Two Taffs who goes novice chasing and is due to appear on October 9th at Chepstow, expects the horse to come on leaps and bounds after taking a lot of time to come to hand last year before getting it all right at Ayr

Briar Hill got chinned by a 66s shot a few weeks ago but the third that day (Tocoroco) has won twice including a G3 yesterday in a canter, so that form may not be at all bad, and BH himself has won since.
Back over hurdles ? He does appear to have his jumping issues but back hurdling may be regression, unless they see the horse as the Mullins WH representative ?

Any of you boys got any links to a decent interview/preview of any trainers regards their stable stars.. May be a good watch get the blood going

I was trying to tackle the mares novice hurdle earlier and with Willie having the first 6 in the betting I'm leaving that race well clear until they've all had a run this season, I would be interested in Augusta Kate against just the mares, can see let's dance going somewhere else after being in the triumph last year, anyone heard anything of apples jade, I can only see her in the world hurdle market, mightily impressive back end of last season

id say betfair youtube will have nicholls shortly

My first bet for the festival I struck back in August, just gone to check it now and I've done;
Faugheen - CH 5/2
Invitation only - Neptune 10/1
Coneygree - GC 10/1
Aux Ptit sons - RSA 14/1
On the fringe - Foxhunters 6/1
Sennewalk - Supreme 12/1

25p e/w Heinz, don't think I'd change any of them yet...

All still live ... season hasn't started yet though :highly_amused:

Love these kinds of bets, I don't do enough of them.

Ive a feeling that Aux ptit Soins might be more likely JLT, hes certainly not short of speed. But an solid looking acca

Anyone know why senewalk is favourite for the supreme? Is he this years min?

Is definately hype at this stage, largely due to a mention from Ricci previously. Although, the horse who beat Senewalk first time out won again in France today by about 8l.

Ricci put him up as his most exciting 2 miler for next season before Cheltenham this year, so yes he is the Ricci 'talking horse' for now. Difference is Min was 50/1 and Senewalk came straight in at about 12/1

Moon Racer - 16/1 Supreme (Festival form, target almost certain)
Barters Hill - 20/1 RSA (Likely target and I am expecting big things)
Quantativeeasing - 16/1 Cross (certain target and over priced)
Jezki - 16/1 World Hurdle (certain target and previous festival form)

103172/1 .... Lucky 15? Any thoughts...
