Minella Rocco is owned by JP McManus and the Irish point winner clearly has a bright future, having cost #260,000.

McCoy was fulsome in his praise of the winner and said: "He was very professional. He's a big horse and cost a lot of money, and you can see why. I don't think he's mentally sharp enough for Cheltenham, but we'd know more about him after another run."

Minella Rocco – Sefton Novices’ Hurdle, 3m 110y, Friday

The Jonjo O’Neill yard may have had their outstanding hurdler, More of That, ruled out for the season, but in Minella Rocco they might just have stumbled upon a prospect almost as bright. A very expensive purchase after winning an Irish point last spring, Minella Rocco justified good support in some style when comfortably landing a novices’ hurdle at Kempton, quickening well to draw clear of the highly-regarded West Wizard. He built on that when scoring at Newbury without breaking sweat, not needing to come off the bridle to put a useful type well and truly in his place. Strictly on the form book, Minella Rocco may not have achieved quite as much as some of the horses he’ll be meeting at Aintree, but he looks right out of the top drawer and can take the step up in class in his stride.

I like trends at Cheltenham and the performances of 6 year olds in the race until 4 months ago was poor, but Don Poli became the trend buster in some style so you can't discount him.
Is he definitely a stayer or would they consider the intermediate 2m 4f race ?
Jonjo has an unbelievable record in the 2m 4f/2m 5f chases at the festival....
