  • 2014 King George Chase

    Of the favourites

    Silviniaco Conti
(5), worthy favourite imo - shortlist
Simonsig (6), could outclass them all but off track a long time and unproven over trip - needs to settle
Cue Card (9), might be a bit of value but questions to answer now
Champagne Fever (10), unproven over trip and disappointing last term
Dynaste (12), won over C&D as novice but passed over
OFaolains Boy (12), took a while to come into form last time - spring horse ?
Boston Bob (14), Lexus more likely target
Holywell (14), Top novice last year but more of a Hennessy type ?
Bobs Worth (16), Lexus more likely target - trainer plenty of other options
Lord Windermere (16), Same plan as 2014?
Taquin Du Seuil (16), Could be interesting
Al Ferof (20), Out and out 2.5 miler ?
Oscar Whisky (20), ditto and not mentioned among trainers possibles
Ma Filleule (33), definite ew shout in my view. Mentioned as target by Hendo in RP too.

Rebel Fitz a possible runner - after slan abaile in Listowel

Winters added: "He had only been swimming and on a treadmill for six weeks. There was genuinely only someone on his back for the last three weeks.

"Mikey O'Connor had a lot of faith in him, but I was very nervous. He's a horse that runs on adrenaline and he's a natural athlete.

"He'll go to Tipperary next if he's 100 per cent. It's the race Captain Cee Bee beat him in last year (Grade Two Friends Of Tipperary Hurdle) but Sunday morning is going to be a big thing with him.

"I was thinking of the King George (Kempton), but Barry Geraghty says the two-mile race at Leopardstown (Paddy Power Dial-A-Bet Chase).

Sarah Hobbs: "Captain Chris is 50-50 for the #KingGeorge. I hope in a way he misses it and we wait. He'd run well but he's not quite ready."

Menorah a certain runner under Tom O'Brien and Wishfull Thinking not ruled out either for team Hobbs

                Simonsig

Charlie Mortlock: "It's a steep upward curve & there is plenty to do but we are doing everything we can to get Simonsig to the #KingGeorge."
