Colin does well at Chepstow with his chasers and often sends decent ones here. He runs 2 today and both look likely to run big races under Robbie Power. Gone for an ew double at odds of 29/1 on the win side with sky bet.
3 25 Chep
COPPERHEAD 5/1
1 45 Chep
CHRISTMAS IN APRIL 4/1
CHRISTMAS IN APRIL ran a cracker 1st time out last season when 3rd of 19 in a very competitive cheltenham handicap hurdle so we know he can go well fresh. At the end of the season he switched to chasing he ran respectably at Chepstow on his chase debut and then really showed the benefit of that experience when only beaten 1/2 length at Perth on only his 2nd chase start over an unsuitably short trip. The rivals in those chase races had in the majority been chasing all season and were more experienced as opposed to Christmas In April who was a hurdler for most of the season.
That experience will be of great benefit today and there should be little doubt that this horse has plenty more to come over fences this season. He is potentially well handicapped, handles undulating tracks and the ground will suit. He must surely go close today and could prove hard to beat here as the step up in trip will suit and there looks no obvious rival to fear here
COPPERHEAD had 5 hurdles races last season and was a big improver winning his final 2 races in handicaps from 104 then 116. Tizzard has wasted no time in sending him chasing and he should improve greatly now chasing.
Truckers Lodge is fav but has been disappointing so far in 2 chase runs including last time over CD. and makes no appeal at short odds, though couldnt be ruled out as a possible winner for Nicholls.
The 2nd fav Prime Venture is 0/7 over fences and also potentially vulnerable.
COPPERHEAD is the youngest and makes his chase debut but he looks to have been found a great opportunity to make a winning debut by the Tizzards and we know full well that this operation knocks out decent chasers for fun so can expect him to know his job first time up.
