    Ordinary World

I had to do a double take when I saw this horse entered up on Friday in a race for horses that have won no more than one steeplechase but it's kosher.

Won his first chase, and just short of 5k, in October 2016. Since then, he's run in 16 graded races plus one non-graded chase last month for 13 places (second, third, fourth) and about 140k in prize-money with only one race not having some prize-money return.

The question is, has the horse been very well or very poorly campaigned?

For what it's worth, I think that Chris Jones' opinion is the only one that really matters but that is very much with my owner hat on. After 3 years I'm pleased to see the horse being given a decent chance of getting his head in front again.

Christ. I wanted this horse in the Grand Annual last festival, so based purely on that his campaigning has been awful

On a more serious note you couldn't knock a horse bringing home 140k in prize money, some owners can only dream of them returns, but as more in the game for the horse itself I wish it was given a chance at some easier opportunities myself. Probably deserves more 1's next to his name that he has.

Down to 149 now so maybe a work in progress.

To a certain extent, his record of being regularly beaten by Altior, Min and UDS tends to show just how thin the 2 mile division has been for the last few years.

Generally speaking lower class horses who take their chances, and are well beaten, in G1 races, are poorly handicapped.
But these races are usually low in numbers and finishing 20l 4th/5th and picking up similar prize money to winning a class 3/4 handicap is decent reward.
As Archie says, sliding to 149 may mean the jackpot day(s) is in front of him...
