I've backed Clan Des Obeaux at 4/1 (3 places). Small loss if he places, big loss if he doesn't and a fair price on last years VERY impressive winner. Just making the most of this account before it inevitably gets closed... they are very slow to react to anything.

I have backed Cyrname to do the King George / Gold Cup double at 33/1 as mentioned elsewhere...

Massively respect Lostintranslation but no juice in his price so I'll just hope he gets beaten but can't deny he's got a massive chance.

Ante-post I'm also on Footpad for the GC 50/1 (free) and Ryanair 22/1 e/w so a big run from him won't upset me.

Thistlecrack, La Bague Au Roi or Aso winning will not be enjoyable from a punting perspective but all have a chance.

        Small but interesting field

Lostintranslation looks the likliest winner but no interest in the odds. Clan Des Obeaux is my long term fancy for this but Nicholls stable form and Cobden dumping him is offputting. Cyrname is unproven over the trip and may be a much better horse at Ascot.

I cant take any of the other runners seriously. No bet for me, the market has the 3 correct horses at the head of the market and there doesnt look any value at all in any of the 3 runners. Just a race to watch I think.

With Nicholls form offputting it can only be no bet race.

Cyrname has to prove himself up in trip and away from Ascot in top company, no interest at price
Backed LIT @ 5/2 AP, think he’s the most likely winner.
Zero interest in CDO generally. Rubbish race last year, much tougher this year
Put 1pt on Footpad @ 25/1 for the Gold Cup with cash out just in case
            Don’t fancy Thistlecrack or Aso
Backed LBAR EW a while back - with 7 runners and soft ground I don’t expect to be collecting

Footpad 3 places will probably be my play.
Not convinced LIT will get enough of a stamina test here, small field could be run at slower pace, brings Cyrname into it for me....

How short does LIT go for Gold Cup if wins here?

9/4 would be my guess assuming he wins by less than 5L.

If theres one person that can make Footpad jump poorly its Bazza G

Do fancy him for this race but just a little less now with the man up top

                          It'll be an interesting watch.
If he runs wide and jumps slower than normal, I think we'll know why.

                              Chapman on form.

However, since that clip. Barry's had five winners at the festival in the last three years.
All of them went off favourite for the race they were in.
Considering some of the ammunition he has had at his disposal I think even he would be disappointed I reckon.
