No chase winners but has won 17 other races at the last 5 festivals.

I suppose you'd be disappointed Master Minded got beat twice as favourite but he never quite matched his early brilliance and Walsh did nothing wrong. Poquelin was beaten favourite in two Ryanairs but we can say now he was never quite top class. He had three attempts on Kauto Star. In 2010 as odds on favourite he fell but it's interesting that he was already 'too old' (statistically) to win another Gold Cup at that point though.

Between 2003 and 2009 over fences he won 1 Arkle, 2 RSAs, 2 Gold Cups, 3 Champion Chases and 4 other chases. Nothing since then.

            as for Nicholls

Up to 2013 Nicholls was 0/63 in chases since Kauto.

2014 was another 0/14 in chases - didnt even have one placed last year

Ruby would have won the Gold Cup last year though !

Id say the Champagne Fever one hurts and maybe with hindsight the Conti fall but he didnt lose any races there he should have won in my opinion.

Mullins and Henderson both getting a bit of stick about chasers lately but you would have to think all Nicholls pot hunting is effecting his chasers when you see the last bit. Do you have numbers for Mullins chasers ?

Cant have that - given the way he abused Russell about the job loss on the preview circuit last year he should ask him !

Will get the Mullins stats. Great with hurdlers poor enough in chases.

I reckon Ruby will ride Hurricane Fly he loves the fly. Got few years to make Faugheen a superstar.

Funny Wylie didn't mention Boston Bob in his five to follow for Cheltenham.

Wylie, Mullins, Walsh...none of them talking about Boston Bob....yet ive looked closely at his runs this season and this horse hasnt been put in a race yet...a length behind Lord Windermere last tine out and Paul Townend didnt put him in the race...a spring horse and a stayer suited to chelt.....watch this space!!

If he hadn't fallen foul of the Kauto v Denman situation I think there would be some mileage in this but the fact that he chose the horse that was closest to his heart rather than the horse more suited to the test of Cheltenham bit him that day. Therefore I think he will make a cold calculated decision........and select Arctic Fire
