Maybe not. Last years field rated 135-148 so don't think the lower rated ones from the Punchestown race will get in.

I think Burton Port is now on 130 over hurdles - they might have overdone it think he might be a national contender too.

              Another JP one...

Timeform think they have found another JP McManus-owned horse that will go close at the Cheltenham Festival...

If In Doubt had the misfortune of bumping into the well-handicapped Fingal Bay at Exeter on Sunday, but he once again shaped extremely well, putting up a career-best performance as he finished a close-up second with the pair well clear. Two weeks ago we put up Tap Night as a JP McManus-owned horse to follow at the Cheltenham Festival and we will recommend the same for the progressive If In Doubt.

If In Doubt didn't progress as expected last season following an emphatic novice win, but he has looked an improved performer this term, winning effortlessly at Towcester prior to putting up a pair of highly creditable efforts in strong handicaps. The thriving Saphir du Rheu proved too strong in the 21-furlong Lanzarote Hurdle, but it was encouraging how well If In Doubt stuck to his task and it was no surprise that he found the step up to a near-three-mile trip in his favour at Exeter. Always travelling powerfully, If In Doubt deserves credit for how well he moved into the race, and the fact that he was the only horse capable of throwing down a challenge to the very smart Fingal Bay is also meritorious. He is sure to go up in the weights again, but he is a progressive horse with some extremely solid handicap form to his name and deserves a crack at a Festival handicap; the Pertemps Final, for which he is now qualified, looks an obvious target and a race well within his compass.

If in doubt napped by a Frank berry at preview last night

                Donn has him before timeform.

If In Doubt ran a fine race to finish second to the hugely impressive Saphir Du Rheu in the Lanzarote Hurdle at Kempton on Saturday. Held up in the early stages of the race, his jumping was a little novicey at first. He made several mistakes early on, and he came under pressure from AP McCoy after he landed a little awkwardly among runners at the final flight in the back straight, so he did well to manoeuvre himself into a position from which he could mount a challenge. In truth, there was no real challenger to the winner, Saphir Du Rheu won with plenty in hand, but If In Doubt kept on really well over the final two flights on the far side, on the worst of the ground, to finish second, a length ahead of Like Minded in third with the first three clear.

If In Doubt has just turned six and, after just six races over hurdles now, he still has plenty of scope for progression. The handicapper has raised him just 3lb for this, which is more than fair, considering the winner was raised 13lb to a mark of 158, and there could be a decent handicap in him off a mark of 135. He stays two and a half miles well, he could get three miles well on this performance, so the stiff extended two and a half miles of the Coral Cup could be ideal for him.

Also, he could be better-suited by Cheltenham’s undulations – both his previous wins were achieved at Towcester, and he was a beaten favourite at Ffos Las and Wincanton, both flat tracks – than he was by Kempton’s flat terrain. He will be of interest wherever he goes next, especially if he returns on an undulating track.

The gamble on If In Doubt for the Pertemps shows no sign of stopping, 8/1 (from 12s) as Phillip Hobbs has him and Fingal Bay to throw at it!

Nigel Twiston-Davies said: "There is a possibility that he can get in. He may get in because of the change in conditions. He qualified at Exeter the other day. He needs better ground than that."

                      Donn

                      Seefood (Trainer: Dessie Hughes)

Seefood is interesting for the Pertemps Final. Dessie Hughes' horse was a decent staying novice hurdler last season. He beat Sizing Gold in a two-and-a-half-mile contest at Fairyhouse early in the season, and he wasn't at all disgraced behind Ubak at Aintree or behind Morning Assembly at Punchestown last spring.

It has taken him a little while to find his range this term but, fitted with a visor for the first time, he ran well to finish third behind Foildubh and Rubi Ball at Thurles in November, and he stepped up on that to put up what was probably a careeer-best effort in finishing second to Courage in the Pertemps Qualifier at Leopardstown's Christmas Festival.

He raced handily that day in a race in which it was an advantage to be held up. The early pace was strong, and the other six horses who, with Seefood, filled the first seven places were all ridden patiently.

The Irish handicapper raised him 5lb to a mark of 139 for that run, and the British handicapper has added another 4lb. That makes things tougher than they might have been, but he remains of interest. He is a progressive young staying hurdler who goes well on good ground and who is trained by the man who sent out Oulart to win the Pertemps Final in 2005.

Inis Meain going to get in now by the look of it. Have taken the 12 s each way and hoping Danny doesnt get lost.

Was talking to a lad on the phone that was at a London preview last night with Richard Johnson, Mick Fitz and Fehily.
Dicky allegedly told them to have the mortgage on Fingal Bay. Was very sweet on Cheltenian and Menorah too. He was so bullish when they asked Fitzy for his nap he said Dicky for top jock at 33s
