We have been trying to get a handle on the 2013 Cheltenham Festival rides of Ruby Walsh, Tony McCoy and Barry Geraghty.
As well as being the three winningmost jockeys at the Cheltenham Festival they each appear to have good books of rides for the 2013 meeting. We think they could end up riding something like 18 favourites between them.
The method we used in trying to figure out AP McCoy's rides was to look at the shortest price horse in each market owned by his boss JP McManus. Of the three jockeys we looked at figuring out what AP will end up on was most problematic. This was particularly so in the handicaps where he has a lot of options and the horses have multiple entries. Writing in his Telegraph column he says: "The boss has two or three with good chances in most of the handicaps but none of them stands out above the other. I have no doubt it will be easier for me to pick the wrong one than the right one."
We have him jocked up on 4 race favourites for now.
Last year AP had to wait until the Friday of the festival for his first winner but will be hoping to get straight on the board with My Tent or Yours in the opening Supreme Novices Hurdle. It looks to be his Cheltenham banker. Mick Fitzgerald asked him which horse he was most looking forward to in this short interview:
For what it is worth this is our latest guess at his mounts:
