Barry Geraghty's Cheltenham 2012 Tips
Sun, Mar 11th, 2012

We received Barry Geraghty's tips for the Fat Jockey Cheltenham Tipping Challenge last week and he confirmed that early info when talking to Paddy Power this week. Paddy got a bit more out of him. Here is what he said :

1.30 William Hill Supreme Novices' Hurdle (2011 - Al Ferof) 2m ½ f
I think Steps of Freedom is the best of the Irish and Darlan may be the best of the English.
2.05 Racing Post Arkle Challenge Trophy (2011 – Captain Chris) 2m
Sprinter Sacre is the one that stands out for me for the week. He’s the best I’ve sat on since Moscow Flyer and could well be better in time.
3.20 Stan James Champion Hurdle (2011 – Hurricane Fly) 2m ½ f
Very hard to see Hurricane Fly being beaten. Binocular might give him most to do for value Oscar Wells.

2.05 Neptune Investment Novices' Hdle (2011 – First Lieutenant) 2m 5f
Simonsig – he’s filled up and strengthened a lot, the trip shouldn’t be an issue.
2.40 RSA Steeple Chase (2011 – Bostons Angel) 3m ½ f
I wouldn’t swap Bobs Worth for anything else in the race.
3.20 Queen Mother Champion Chase (2011 – Sizing Europe) 2m
Finian's Rainbow is working well at home and we hope he’s turned a corner. He worked really well the last two Saturdays. Ground is the big key with Big Zeb – the quicker it is, the better.
5.15 Weatherbys Champion Bumper (2011 – Cheltenian) 2m ½ f
Moscow Mannon – if he was trained by Willie Mullins, he’d be a much shorter price.

1.30 Jewson Novices' Steeple Chase (2011 – Noble Prince) 2m 5f
Peddlers Cross will be the class horse of the race. I think Champion Court is definitely a player.
2.40 Ryanair Chase (2011 – Alberta’s Run) 2m 5f
Riverside Theatre has a great chance in a very competitive race.
3.20 Ladbrokes World Hurdle (2011 – Big Buck’s) 3m
I think Oscar Whiskey is the classiest horse to take on Big Buck’s so I hope he can do the trick. It’s whether he can stay 3m at Big Buck’s pace is the question.

1.30 JCB Triumph Hurdle (2011 – Zarkandar) 2m 1f
There isn’t a horse standing out but I think Shadow Catcher could be good e/w value.
2.40 Albert Bartlett Novice’s Hurdle (2011 – Bobs Worth) 3m
Boston Bob and Mount Benbulben are both better than average 3-mile novice hurdlers but I’d have a preference for Mount Benbullen .
3.20 Betfred Cheltenham Gold Cup Steeple Chase (2011 – Long Run) 3m 2 ½ f
A win for Long Run and Burton Port for a place.
5.15 Johnny Henderson Grand Annual (2011- Oiseau de Nuit) 2m ½ f
One that isn’t widely seen in the betting is French Opera and I think he’d be good each way value

We will have more from Barry during Cheltenham Festival week. We have an exclusive 2/1 price with Stan James on  Sprinter Sacre. This is the horse Barry says is the one that stands out all week for him. If you want 2/1 get your skates on. The offer ends Sunday. Just go to Stan James and enter the promo code fatjockey to get the price. It won't show up at 2/1 straight away but will be settled at that price. The full terms and conditions are at the bottom of this page. Dont forget the fatjockey code ! The Sprinter Sacre naysayers have some great Paddy Power Insurance with this fantastic money back if Sprinter Sacre wins offer.
